Heh, it's true! I don't so much mind being taken for male in each instance as I do the general pattern that leads people to think "tall person, short hair, hat, confident bearing... Must be a man". So maybe I was a bit exasperated, it being the *third time today*. Alas, my shirt is a pullover. :)

Oh, huh! I also get "sir'ed" a lot, and particularly on this trip (the further south I go, the more sir's I get). That bit never occurred to me...I was always mostly bothered by how upset the other person got when they realized their Horrible Mistake, reflecting how Terribly Important gender was in their heads. I guess now I have a second thing to be annoyed by. ;-)
